When I first heard the track Ugly from Bubba Sparxxx's debut album Dark Days, Bright Nights, I could have sworn that the rapper was a brother. Not only was I wrong, I was also delightfully suprised. While many will no doubt expect Bubba Sparxxx to be another Eminem -simply because they share the same skin color-he is anything but another rapper out to impersonate Eminem.
Hailing from Athens GA, Sparxxx(born Warren Anderson Mathis) has a rap style that's like guy talk on a southern porch on a hot and humid summer night. With a Southern drawl, Bubba creates a unique blend of country culture, accents, introspective lyricism and Southern-fried beats to create the atmosphere for an already unique album.
There are some instances where things are more fun and ugly, Bubba talk is one such instance. With an accent thicker than a southern swamp, Sparxxx proclaims "I say the same thing, just slower than ya’ll". With farm animal sounds of horses and cows in the distance, Bubba Talk conjures images of tractor pulls,
