AVIREX

Avirex is better known at the Pentagon than the fashion runways. For the last 25 years or so, the company has been contracting to the US military forces - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, the US Coast Guard and NASA since its existence.
The classic bomber jackets worn by military pilots is one of the mainstays of the Avirex line. Remember the jacket that Tom Cruise was wearing in Top Gun? That was an Avirex.

Building on their strength of being a established brand in a niche market, Avirex took a path less travelled with their mainstream strategy. Geared toward the late teen and early 30's market, Avirex has penetrated the heart of school campuses.

The clothes are streetwear, with an appeal to the Ivy League students and the hip-hop posers.
Wide pants and hooded jackets dominates this very wearable collection. And if the number of retail buyers in the audience at the Fall 2001 New York Fashion Week is a measure of how commercially successful this line is going to be, then I would say that you will see a lot of young men wearing these clothes in the coming season.
